APPLE AND BROWN SUGAR CRUMBLES

APPLE  AND  BROWN  SUGAR  CRUMBLES:

INGREDIENTS:

5  medium green apples (750g)
2  tablespoons lemon juice
1  tablespoon brown sugar
1/4  teaspoon mixed spice
Brown sugar crumble
1/2  cup (75g) plain flour
80g  butter, chopped
1/3  cup (75g) firmly packed brown sugar
1/4  teaspoon mixed spice

METHOD:
  • Preheat oven to moderately hot (200C/180C fan-forced).Lightly grease four 1-cup (250ml) oven proof dishes; place on oven tray.
  • Peel and core apples; chop coarsely. Combine apple, juice, sugar and spice in medium bowl.
  • Make brown sugar crumble.
  • Divide apple mixture among dishes (pile apple high as it shrinks during cooking).Press brown sugar crumble on top of apples.
  • Bake about 30 minutes or until browned.
  • Serve hot with ice-cream or cream, if desired.
Brown sugar crumble -Place flour in medium bowl; rub in butter until combined.  Add sugar and spice; mix well.

Preparation time- 10 minutes

Cooking time -30 minutes

Serves - 4
